Welcome - Come Join Us!

The Kingdom Mountain Dulcimers group welcomes you to any of our groups and free community events.

As a volunteer group, we love to share with you the joy of playing the mountain dulcimer.

Think you might like to play the mountain dulcimer?

Folks at KMD are happy to offer a free introduction to playing the dulcimer and may even have an extra beginner instrument you can borrow.

Please  join us at our Ensemble and/or Jam gatherings to meet us, hear our music, and talk about learning to play this sweet instrument.

We welcome all levels of players to our groups and together we help each other learn and grow in skills and repertoire.

Local Dulcimer Instruction:

I. Instructor Julie Sturm - Individual and occasional small group beginning lessons to explore this sweet instrument in a relaxed, supportive setting. No prior experience with music is needed. Come discover the joy of music and the mountain dulcimer.

For more information, contact Julie Sturm juliesturmvt@gmail.com   or call/text 802-274-3408

II. Instructor Vicki Moore - I have been playing mountain dulcimer since 2003 and teaching for over 20 years. My focus is traditional back porch style with an aim to fill your “dulcimer tool bag” with all sorts of options to make your music fun and interesting....and at the same time adapting to your style of learning. Keeping things simple and easy is important.  A personal focus to accompany my vocals with chords/instrumentals has been broadened in recent years to delightfully include the Clemmer Banjammer  (hybrid cross of banjo and mountain dulcimer).

I do my best to carry on the enthusiasm of my dear friend and dulcimer mentor Dallas Cline. "Oh, what fun!” she would often say!

ONLINE WORKSHOPS and TEACHERS

The QuaranTune Dulcimer Virtual Festival began in 2020 and they have had a series of virtual festivals three times a year ever since. Low cost workshops are available for players at all levels (absolute beginner, novice, intermediate and beyond) and are offered by many of the best teachers and performers in the dulcimer world. They also have virtual concerts and jams, a nice way to get to see and hear national dulcimer instructors and performers.

The upcoming QuaranTune Summer Fest 2026 is  June 4-7

Check out the annual August dulcimer festival in southern Vermont, New England Dulcimer Days. This festival originally was called August Dulcimer Daze, started over 30 years ago by the late, incomparable George Haggerty. Since George's passing, Ellen Pratt and Bonnie Leigh have continued this friendly, community oriented festival.  Much fun!
